“The Right to Read” Film Screening

This is why we are passionate about literacy in Montgomery County. But there is a back story. Literacy was a problem BEFORE the pandemic. We haven’t been teaching reading right. As a country. And those without resources, as usual, have borne the brunt of our negligence. On Saturday, Sept. 23 at the Universities of Shady Grove, we will be watching the new documentary that tells the story we don’t want to hear: that we haven’t been teaching our kids to read! The Right to Read is a documentary that shows that literacy is a civil right that has been denied so many of our kids despite the relative wealth of our country.
