4th Annual Camping Retreat at Rocky Gap State Park
From 12:00 am to 12:00 amFriends: CAMPING IS COMING! NOW is the time to reserve your site for our 3rd annual GGC Annual Camping Retreat. PLEASE BRING YOUR KIDS! Where: Rocky Gap State Park, Flintstone, MD (one hour, 38 minutes from my house in the panhandle of our state) When: Friday, June 23 – Sunday, June 25, 2023 What Loop? Chestnut Loop (our family will be at #63)(common bathhouse with showers, common water spicket, electrical plugs at bathhouse) What’s the Link? parkreservations.maryland.gov How much does it cost? $22.50/night with TWO-night minimum for weekend ($51 total with fees) Who makes reservations? Each family makes their own. NOTE: campsites are going fast! Don’t put this off! What is there to do? Camping, cooking on grill, hiking, swimming (water may still be cold), boating, campfire, chatting, chilling, hanging out, etc. What about food? Each family brings and cooks (or prepares) their own food; Saturday evening potluck optional What about a tent? They’re cheap. 5 person tents start at $79 (See sample here) Can I bring a pet? Chestnut Loop IS pet-friendly. Must be on leash and have vaccinations. Will there be group activities? Nothing formal but probably some organized hikes and trips to the lake beach. Evening campfire highly likely. What if I’ve never gone tent camping before? This is the perfect chance to get your feet wet – with lots of friends to help you learn the ropes!!
