Black Rock Food Distribution
Volunteer drivers show up at 11:30 p.m. on Thursday at the parking lot of the Upcounty Regional Services Center (12900 Middlebrook Road; far right side of building) with a vehicle and a GPS. They are given food supplies for 3 – 5 families. For each family unit, there are 1 – 2 bags/boxes of groceries & household supplies. Attached to the main box is a white sheet which includes the name, address, phone number, and other information about each family. The driver is responsible for getting the food items to the door of each family on their list. When they arrive, they place the items at the doorstep, knock or ring, and wait for the resident to answer the door to acknowledge receipt of the goods. If no one answers, the driver calls the phone # listed on their sheet and, if no one answers, leaves a message. Deliveries usually take 45 minutes to an hour to complete. Questions? Call Nikki Haddad, Upcounty Hub Volunteer Coordinator at 240-388-5356. SIGN UP HERE
