Ways to Serve in Germantown

Some of you have asked about volunteering for needy families on other days besides Fridays at 12:30. Here are some options:

Thursday food delivery – like Fridays, pick up groceries at Black Rock Arts Center around mid-day and deliver to 3 – 4 households in need. Total drive time approx. one hour.  To sign up, go to the website of our friends at Kind Works: https://www.dokindworks.org/events/help-out-at-the-upcounty-distribution-hub-at-the-black-rock-center-for-the-arts-2/

Packing boxes – on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, from 10:00 – 12:30 p.m., volunteers pack boxes with food items at the Black Rock Arts Center to prepare them for delivery. To sign up, go to the website of our friends at Kind Works: https://www.dokindworks.org/events/help-out-at-the-upcounty-distribution-hub-at-the-black-rock-center-for-the-arts-2/

Monthly food delivery – some volunteers have one day of the month on which they deliver food for Germantown HELP. On that day, they go to the HELP food pantry at the Trinity United Methodist Church, pick up groceries, and deliver to 3 – 5 residences. To inquire of need and day/month, email Director, Cindy Majane, at cindymajane@gmail.com

Pick Up Crew – still other volunteers are on a list to be called as needed when someone wants to donate groceries and needs them to be picked up from their home. When a pick up is needed, the call goes out and anyone on this list can volunteer if their schedule allows. This is the most flexible way to volunteer. If you want to sign up, just let Norm know by replying to this email!

Regardless of your circumstances, it is a privilege to be able to give back to one’s community and a great way to live out one’s thanksgiving.
